LiteConsent Privacy Policy

LiteConsent is a Shopify app that displays a cookie consent banner on a merchant's storefront and keeps a record of the consent choices visitors make. This policy explains what data the app processes.

Data we process for merchants

• Shop domain, installation date and plan (needed to run the app and bill through Shopify).
• Banner settings you configure (stored in a Shopify metafield owned by the app).

Data we process about storefront visitors

• Consent choices (analytics, marketing, preferences, sale of data) and the time they were made.
• Visitor region as reported by Shopify (for example "USCA"), used to apply the right consent rules.
• A random anonymous identifier stored in a first-party cookie (lc_vid) so repeat choices can be linked.

We do not store IP addresses, names, e-mail addresses, order data or any other information that identifies a person. Consent choices are passed to Shopify's Customer Privacy API; we never sell or share them.

Cookies set by the banner

• lc_vid — anonymous visitor identifier, 1 year.
• lc_done — remembers that a choice was made so the banner is not shown again, 180 days.

Retention and deletion

Records are kept while the app is installed. When a merchant uninstalls the app, Shopify sends a deletion request and all data for that shop is permanently erased within 48 hours. Merchants can export their records as CSV at any time.

Sub-processors

Hosting: Netlify (serverless functions, US). Database: Supabase (PostgreSQL, AWS Seoul region). Both act under our instructions and store only the data listed above.
